Visibility is a design lever. The more visible the gaps, the more pressure builds. You can tone it down or amplify it based on your engagement goals.

Collections work best when paired with a second element: discovery. Hiding pieces geographically, temporally, or behind certain actions creates natural exploration.
In Geomon, a mobile game, you catch creatures that come in three rarity tiers. Three identical creatures of the same tier merge into a single creature of the next tier up. This creates a natural collection loop: catch creature → get duplicates → merge for rarity → chase the ultimate legendary form. But creatures only appear in specific locations.
