Human-Focused AI
Designing AI that people actually want to use.
I’m Yu-kai Chou, creator of the Octalysis Framework and author of Actionable Gamification (100,000+ copies). My work has reached 1.5 billion+ people, and my research has 3,700+ academic citations.
What Human-Focused AI means
For years I’ve called gamification Human-Focused Design: it optimizes for human motivation instead of pure functional efficiency. Human-Focused AI applies the same idea to AI. A tool can be powerful and still go unused if nobody wants to use it. The 8 Core Drives of Octalysis give teams a way to design AI products, rollouts and workplaces around what actually motivates people.
