About the Creator of the Octalysis Framework

Yu-kai Chou created the Octalysis Framework after studying gamification since 2003 — years before the term entered mainstream vocabulary. As a Human-Systems Architect & Behavioral Designer, his framework has been applied by LEGO, Microsoft, Porsche, Coca-Cola, Salesforce, and MrBeast, impacting over 1.5 Billion Users.
Chou has taught the Octalysis methodology at Harvard, Stanford, Yale, Tesla, Google, BCG, and IDEO.
His work has been cited by Harvard, Stanford, MIT, Forbes, Wall Street Journal, Wired, US Department of Energy, NIST, NSF, NCBI, US Department of Education, ClinicalTrials.gov, and 3,700+ more academic publications. Explore his books here.
The WaterWatch Learning Programme

The WaterWatch Learning Programme is part of a multi-million dollar sustainability project by a large corporate organisation.
The main learning opportunity is a one-day face-to-face employee engagement programme, open to all of the organisation’s 230,000 employees globally.
A smaller number of employees are given kits to take away with them to continue testing their own chosen waterbody and uploading data for the project.
Success on the First Attempt
We were impressed with the overall quality of Sarah’s submission.
She absorbed the knowledge of Yu-kai’s Behavioral Design Masterclass well and managed to obtain an Octalysis Certificate on her first attempt!
Only three other of the many Masterclass participants succeeded in doing so. An impressive accomplishment!
Congratulations Sarah! We are looking forward to more of your contributions in the Ludogogy magazine and updates in the Premium Octalysis Prime Community.
Check out the Hall of Fame where we show every person who, through skill and hard work, attained their Level 1 and Level 2 Octalysis Certificate!
I’m really honoured to join the ranks of those who have already done this, and I’m looking forward to working towards the Level II certification.
