We like to showcase the work of people who have attained their Octalysis Certificate to show the standard of quality required to get the Octalysis Certificate, as well as give a taste of things people will learn on the Octalysis Prime mentorship platform.
⚡ Speed Run Notes
- The Octalysis Certificate is a filter, not a finish line. Most certifications signal completion; Octalysis certification signals entry. Level 2 is where the vocabulary starts to become reflexive — the practitioner stops translating from heuristics to Core Drives and starts thinking in them natively. That shift is the real credential.
- Level 2 is the meaningful threshold because Level 1 can be memorized and Level 2 cannot. Anyone can study the framework for a week and pass a knowledge test. Applying it to a novel real-world case in a way that holds up under review is a different skill entirely. Level 2 separates vocabulary from fluency.
- Certifications work only when they are scarce enough to remain expensive. Diluted credentials become decorative. Octalysis keeps the cohort small on purpose, which keeps the signal strong. A scarce certificate is a CD6 asset for the holder — it is worth something precisely because not everyone has one.
- The quiet benefit of pursuing a Level 2 is the conversations it forces with other practitioners. The study cohort is as valuable as the curriculum. People who earn the certificate end up with a peer group they can call when a design question stumps them. That network is a compounding asset no online course could produce.
- The deepest reason to chase a Level 2 is accountability. Self-taught practitioners plateau quietly. A formal track with evaluators forces you to defend your work to people who know the framework better than you do. That defense is uncomfortable and necessary. Every Level 2 achiever is someone who signed up for discomfort on purpose, which is itself a signal.
About the Creator of the Octalysis Framework

Yu-kai Chou created the Octalysis Framework after studying gamification since 2003 — years before the term entered mainstream vocabulary. As a Human-Systems Architect & Behavioral Designer, his framework has been applied by LEGO, Microsoft, Porsche, Coca-Cola, Salesforce, and MrBeast, impacting over 1.5 Billion Users.
Chou has taught the Octalysis methodology at Harvard, Stanford, Yale, Tesla, Google, BCG, and IDEO.
His work has been cited by Harvard, Stanford, MIT, Forbes, Wall Street Journal, Wired, US Department of Energy, NIST, NSF, NCBI, US Department of Education, ClinicalTrials.gov, and 3,700+ more academic publications. Explore his books here.
Youssef’s Level 2 Achievement
While attaining a Level 1 Octalysis Certificate in itself is impressive and displays competency in the usage of the Octalysis Framework, attaining a Level 2 Octalysis Certificate demonstrates skill in the application of the Octalysis Framework to solve complex problems.
Since we massively revamped our Octalysis Certificates, only two people have attained Level 2, Sergio Ligato, and now Youssef Ouazzani with his Strat’Z’Fun submission.
Youssef attained his Level 1 Octalysis Certificate last May and almost instantly started working on his Level 2. This rapid progression exemplifies Core Drive 2: Development & Accomplishment — the intrinsic drive to grow mastery and overcome challenges.
We applaud your willingness to work hard, your openness to feedback, and your eager attitude, Youssef. Congratulations!
Check out the Hall of Fame where we show every person who, through skill and hard work, attained their Level 1 and Level 2 Octalysis Certificate!
Strat’Z’Fun Submission
Youssef’s Strat’Z’Fun submission covers an app design that will help employees become more aligned with the company’s strategic vision, in a playful manner. This is a practical demonstration of gamification applied to enterprise engagement — exactly the kind of real-world application the Octalysis certification program is designed to produce.
